Aris still couldn't find a solution, Valchev and Dimitrov remain unaccounted for

The uncertainty surrounding the future of Aris (Thessaloniki) volleyball club, where Bulgarians Todor Valchev and Dimitar Dimitrov play, continues. On October 5, a solution to the financial and management crisis was expected to be found, but there is still no final decision. The president of AS Aris, Simos Aivazidis, announced that the last candidate who showed interest in taking over the team has withdrawn. Before him, Yiannis Varvoutas, with whom discussions were held about the future of professional volleyball in the club, also pulled out.
Aivazidis admitted that he cannot secure the necessary funds alone and is looking for a partner to join in the financing. Help will also be sought from the football and basketball structures of Aris.
Just a few months ago, the situation looked completely different. After winning promotion, the Thessaloniki team began selection for their return to the Volley League and attracted outside hitter Todor Valchev and national team player Dimitar Dimitrov. Subsequently, financial difficulties disrupted the preparation. Some of the volleyball players left, some of the agreed-upon reinforcements did not arrive in Thessaloniki, and head coach Yiannis Haritonidis was released. At one point, only 7-8 players participated in training.
For now, there is no information that Valchev and Dimitrov have left or terminated their contracts.
The new extraordinary General Assembly is scheduled for October 12. It comes just 13 days before Aris's first match after their return to the Greek elite, against Floisvos on October 25.
