Barutov was born on March 21, 2003, and is 200 cm tall. He is a former youth national player for Bulgaria, and volleyball is a family tradition. David is the son of former Bulgarian national player Ivaylo Barutov, who has a long career in Bulgaria and abroad, and the grandson of Lachezar Barutov. Before Slavia, the receiver played for Beroe, Rakovski 1964, and the Turkish Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyespor. Now Barutov remains in Pernik, but as part of Metalurg, which will play in the Bulgarian elite in the new season.
Before the start of Super Volley, Metalurg will participate in the Balkan Cup, which will be held from October 17 to 19 in Kalamata, Greece.
Pernik's first championship match is on October 23 against Beroe 2016 in Stara Zagora. Thus, David Barutov will have the opportunity to face one of his former clubs at the beginning of the season.
