Valsa Group Modena is just one win away from participating in European tournaments, after starting the final series for 5th place in the SuperLega with a decisive 3:0 (28:26, 25:17, 25:21) away victory against Itas Trentino.
The first set was crucial for the match's development – evenly contested and tense, but won by the visitors after a tough battle. This gave momentum to Modena, who in the next two sets imposed control through strong serves and effective attacks, to conclude the match in less than 80 minutes.
At the heart of the success was Buchegger with 18 points, supported by Davyskiba (16) and Porro (12). On the other side, Trento experienced serious personnel problems and played without Michieletto, Jorgi Ramon, and Théo Faure, while the only player with a double-digit score was Gabi Garcia with 14 points.
With this success, Modena leads 1-0 in the best-of-three series. This puts Alberto Giuliani's team in an excellent position – another victory in the next match will mean direct qualification for the Challenge Cup. Trento will seek a reaction to revive the intrigue and send the clash to a decisive third match.
