Bulgarian national Venislav Antov was selected to the ideal team of the third round of the French Alterna VOLSTAR championship after a fan vote organized by the specialized volleyball profile VolleyActu on the social network X.
The recognition comes after the diagonal's impressive performance in Tourcoing's dramatic 3:2 (21:25, 20:25, 25:18, 25:21, 15:12) victory over Nice on October 25.
Antov was the top scorer in the match with 29 points, including 2 blocks and 1 ace, achieving approximately 62% success rate in attack. The Bulgarian played a key role in Tourcoing's complete comeback, as they were trailing 0:2 in sets but managed to win the next three parts.
The strong performance also earned Antov the official Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the match, watched by 1212 spectators.
The symbolic seven, determined by VolleyActu readers, also included Arthur Kleinjans (Paris Volley), Caleb Geness (Saint-Nazaire), Tom Lavigne and Cameron Thorne (Plessis-Robinson), Jules Dutoit (Toulouse), and Julien Pasquier (Royan).
VolleyActu's initiative takes place after each round and allows fans to choose the best volleyball players by position. Unlike the MVP award for an individual match, a spot in the ideal team is not an official award from the French Volleyball League (LNV), but rather recognition from the fans.
