Today, October 29, is the deadline for registering new players before the second round of WINBET Super Volley. If the Ruse club manages to complete the necessary procedures, the new addition will have the opportunity to be available for Dunav's first championship match.
The team led by Krasimir Mironov will host Beroe (Stara Zagora) tomorrow, October 30, at 6:00 PM in Ruse. The match is from the second round of the championship, but it will be the first for the hosts, who had a bye at the start due to Cherno More's withdrawal from the elite group.
The potential acquisition of the Cuban will give Mironov an additional option at the outside hitter position – an important element before the clash with the ambitious Stara Zagora team.
Beroe also went through a lengthy procedure to settle a foreign addition. The Iranian opposite Amirmohammad Hamidreza Khorshidi, also presented by the club as Amir Mahamad, was acquired in the summer, but the issuance of a work visa delayed his inclusion in the preparation. As early as August, Beroe president Zhivko Zhelev admitted that the club was awaiting the Iranian's documents. At the end of September, he placed the settlement of the transfer among the important conditions for realizing Stara Zagora's high ambitions, including pursuing the championship title. Ultimately, Beroe managed to arrange the registration of the opposite in the final stage of the registration window. However, the question remains when Khorshidi will reach optimal form and fully integrate into the team's play.
Stara Zagora started the season with a convincing 3:0 (25:20, 25:23, 25:20) victory over Metalurg (Pernik). Polish outside hitter Jakub Rzaka was the top scorer with 12 points, and Ivan Latunov added 11 and received the award for most valuable player.
Dunav also enters the upcoming clash after successful checks. The Ruse team defeated Dobrudzha 07 with 3:2 in Dobrich, and on October 24, they prevailed over the same opponent with 3:1 (25:18, 20:25, 25:18, 26:24) in the Dunav hall, where they presented their squad for the new season.
In their preparation, the Ruse team also measured forces with the Romanian champion Dinamo (Bucharest), losing in the friendly match but gaining valuable game experience against an opponent with international ambitions.
Among Dunav's foreign additions in the summer are Polish opposite Kacper Wnuk and Latvian setter Markus Vensbergs. The acquisition of the young Cuban outside hitter would complement the selection immediately before the start of the Ruse team's championship participation.
Thus, the upcoming match between Dunav and Beroe will pit two teams that are looking to strengthen with foreign players but are at different stages of the season – the hosts are yet to make their official debut, while the guests already have three points and a victory without losing a set.
