The volleyball club of Strumica, Republic of North Macedonia, made a very strong selection, attracting three more national players to its ranks, two of whom have also played in Bulgaria. These are setter Gjorgi Gjorgiev, outside hitter Aleksandar Ljaftov, and Gjorgi's brother and captain of the national team Nikola, who plays as opposite hitter. Gjorgi Gjorgiev and Aleksandar Ljaftov have become champions of Bulgaria with the team of "Hebar" Pazardzhik, and Georgiev also has 4 championship titles with the team of "Marek". The 32-year-old setter last played for the Turkish Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyespor along with another teammate from "Marek", Dmitry Bahov. Ljaftov competed last season for AL-Wase VC from the UAE, Georgi's brother - 36-year-old Nikola was in the ranks of the Slovenian champion ACH Volley. All three began their volleyball careers in Strumica.

With this super selection, the champion of our western neighbor will attack the CEV Cup Eurotournament. In the second strongest tournament, practically almost 1/3 of the country's national team will participate, including the team's symbolic mustachioed libero Darko Angelovski (a total of 7 with the new additions, editor's note).
Strumica's first match is a home game against Hungarian Fino Kaposvár on October 8th. DEYA Volley Burgas also participates in this tournament.
