Qatar with historic first World Cup victory

The Qatar team finished its debut participation at the World Volleyball Championship with a victory. In their last match of the group stage, the Qataris defeated Romania 3:1 in sets and recorded their first success in the history of the tournament. This places them 21st in the world ranking, while Romania dropped to 26th position.

Of interest to the Bulgarian public is the reappearance of setter Borislav Georgiev – a former Bulgarian youth national team player, who played the entire match for Qatar and finished with 2 points.
