Two-time Olympic champion Earvin Ngapeth returns to France. In the new championship, he will wear the jersey of Poitiers, where his professional career began. As early as Saturday, spectators can see him in a friendly match against Tours, with whom Ngapeth became champion in 2010. Before arriving in France, Ngapeth participated with his compatriot Jean Patry in the qualifications for the World Club Championship as part of the Indonesian Jakarta team. The 33-year-old Ngapeth has 13 seasons abroad and 343 matches with the national jersey under his belt.
He explained to the French media that joining Alterna Stade Poitevin Volley Ball was not his initial plan, but his desire to be closer to his family prevailed. "I have been abroad for more than ten years (last season he played as an attacker for Halkbank Ankara). I am a father of three children, they are growing up, school is coming...", he explained his decision. His contract is for one season, but there is an option to leave the club at the end of the year if a better offer comes along.
Ngapeth will make his official debut with Poitiers on September 28 at home against Narbonne.
