Great friendly matches over the weekend at "PalaTriccoli" in Jesi for Giampaolo Medei's team. Lube will also participate in the second edition of the Jesi Volley Cup, according toivolleymagazine.it, as the news was also confirmed by the official website of the "red and whites"lubevolley.it. The team that won last year's first trophy of the tournament will take to the court on Saturday, September 14, at 8:30 PM, against Roberto Piazza's Allianz Milano in the second semi-final. The "Cucinari" match will be preceded by the encounter between Italian champions Sir Susa Vim Perugia and French vice-champions Tours Volley. The 3rd place final in the friendly tournament is scheduled for 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 15, while the grand final for the cup will be at 6:00 PM.
Giampaolo Medei:"The competition will be a challenge because we will face teams built to compete in the Champions League and for the league title. The level will rise, and I expect us to also progress. We drew good conclusions from the control matches, but at times we lacked consistency, and the first goal is to avoid "empty" rallies in both the break phase and the side-out phase. From our point of view, these matches will be tough tests. We are talking about a friendly tournament - the result will not matter. The matches will show interesting ideas about the difficulties created by opponents or our weaknesses. Alex Nikolov will be with us in Jesi, but he will not take to the court. There is no official date for his return to play - we cannot rush time. The Bulgarian player is key for Lube, and we want his recovery to proceed without hasty actions. Although he is behind his teammates from a technical and physical point of view, Alex is training with the group. Day by day, we observe his progress. We will do everything possible to bring him back soon, but with the caveat that we want him 100% ready. The team is working hard and has a form that meets expectations. We are going to "PalaTriccoli" confident and eager to show quality and progress, while at the same time knowing that we will meet opponents of great class!"
