The Qatar volleyball championship has been suspended until further notice, after tensions in the Middle East escalated. The information was confirmed to our media by Borislav Georgiev – a former youth national player for Bulgaria, who is currently part of the Qatar national team and plays for Al Arabi SC, where the Iranian Porya, who controversially left Lube, also plays.
According to Georgiev, the championship matches have been postponed indefinitely, with no clear indication yet as to when the tournament will resume.
A check of the official program of the Qatari league shows that matches were played until the end of February, after which the championship was suspended and the scheduled matches for March remain without results.
The last played matches were on February 25 and 26:
Al Rayyan – Police 3:2(25:21,22:25,25:19,23:25,15:12)
Al Gharafa – Al Sadd 2:3(23:25,25:21,25:22,20:25,12:15)
Al Wakrah – Qatar SC 3:0(25:19,25:18,25:20)
Al Shamal – Al Ahli 0:3(20:25,19:25,18:25)
After this round, matches were scheduled to be played on March 1 and 2, as well as subsequent matches on March 5, but they remain without results in the league system.

Indirect confirmation that the regional situation is affecting volleyball also came from the international calendar. Pairs from Middle Eastern countries, including Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, cancelled their participation in a Beach Pro Tour beach volleyball tournament held in the Indian city of Bhubaneswar.
Currently, the Qatar Volleyball Federation has not published an official statement regarding the suspension of the championship, but according to information from league players, the tournament remains suspended until further notice, pending stabilization of the situation in the region.
