Bulgaria U16 started the Balkan Championship with a clean victory over Turkey

The Bulgarian national team for boys under 16 started their participation in the Balkan Championship in Mytilene (Greece) in an excellent way.
The team led by Nikolay Hadzhiivanov defeated Turkey with 3:0 (25:18, 25:20, 26:24) in their first match of the competition.
The Bulgarian volleyball players had a significant advantage in the first two sets. They controlled the development of the match and did not allow the Turkish team to put them under prolonged pressure, taking a convincing 2:0 lead.
The third set proved to be the most contested. Turkey improved their game and this time managed to stay in the fight until the very end, even leading 23:21 and having the opportunity to win a set.
However, the young Bulgarian national players reacted excellently at the decisive moment. They erased their deficit and equalized at 23:23, then maintained greater composure in the game after the 24th point. Bulgaria reached 26:24 and closed the match in three sets.
Five teams are participating in the Balkan Championship – Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Serbia, and Romania. The tournament is played on a "round-robin" system, which means that every match is important for the final standings.
After the successful start, the next match is against Romania. Bulgaria will play their second match on September 3rd at 7:30 PM.
