The reason for Bulgaria's canceled matches with Serbia has become clear

More clarity has emerged regarding the surprising cancellation of the two friendly matches between Bulgaria and Serbia, which were supposed to be played on September 1st and 2nd in Sofia. The details come from the Serbian side, as the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation did not provide a specific reason when announcing the change.
A publication by the Serbian Volleyball Federation (OSS) clarifies that the reason is a virus in the Bulgarian national team, with information indicating that four volleyball players have fallen ill.
"The Bulgarian Volleyball Federation informed OSS that the matches are cancelled due to a virus among the Bulgarian volleyball players. Four players of our neighbors have fallen ill, and the hosts of one of the European Championship groups did not want to take any risks," states the publication by the Serbian federation.
The BFV announced on August 29th that the matches scheduled for September 1st and 2nd with Serbia would not take place, without specifying the reason for the decision.
Thus, Bulgaria is left without the planned last two test matches before EuroVolley 2026. Our national team continues its preparation in Sofia before the start of the championship.
