The Bulgarian national U17 men's team will play for places in the second octet of the World Championship, which our country is hosting in Sofia. Teodor Bogdanov's boys fought, but their surge came too late and Bulgaria lost to Argentina with 1:3 (14:25, 17:25, 25:15, 23:25) in a Round of 16 match of the World Cup, played this evening in "Levski Sofia" hall.
Bulgaria started with: Petko Petkov, Dimitar Peychinov, Aleksandar Dobrev, Daniel Tanev, Nikolay Mihovski, Evan Georgiev, libero – Dimitar Dobrev (Filip Marinski, Georgi Boychev, Petar Gospodarski).
After two catastrophic sets, the Bulgarians mounted a comeback and almost overwhelmed their opponent in the third set. We just fell short of taking the match to a tie-break, but our strength lasted until the 23rd point.

The most effective player for the Bulgarian team was Aleksandar Dobrev with 22 points (4 aces). Daniel Tanev finished with 14 points (2 aces, 1 block).

The Uzbekistan team did not arrive in Sofia, which allowed Bulgaria to directly qualify for the group competing for 9th-12th place in the championship, as well as two days of rest. Our opponent will be the winner of the match between Mexico and Chile. The match will be on Friday (August 30) at 5:00 PM.
