Uncertainty around Bernardo Rezende for the next Olympic cycle, elections are coming in the Brazilian federation

The Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) cannot guarantee Bernardinho that he will be the national team coach for the next Olympic cycle, local media report. The coach returned to Seleção at the end of last year, but according to journalist Bruno Voloch, his future at the helm of the team is shrouded in uncertainty, which will be decided in the coming months. Despite their public desire to continue cooperating with the current management, the final decision is not in the hands of the current administration, known as Gestão Caranguejo.

According to Voloch, the elections scheduled for the first months of 2025 will be crucial for Bernardinho's future in the national team.

Radamés Lattari, the current president of the federation, is behind Bernardinho's selection.

While current vice-president Gustavo Toroca has no influence over this process, and his late father was against Bernardinho.

Voloch also stated that the opposition, on the other hand, plans a complete overhaul of the CBV, including a change of coach.
Bernardinho's future and the leadership of the CBV itself depend on the outcome of these elections, which promise to be among the most contested and decisive in the recent history of Brazilian volleyball.

Banco do Brasil, the main sponsor of the CBV, is also closely monitoring developments and demanding results proportionate to the amounts invested.
The Brazilian men's volleyball team had a weaker-than-expected performance at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. There, the "Seleção" lost in the quarterfinals to the USA.
