Nikolay Zhelyazkov: "Levski's goal is to get out of the Champions League groups"

The coach of "Levski Sofia" men's volleyball team, Nikolay Zhelyazkov, shared his opinion on the new season.

"The expectations are higher. Last year we had a very strong season. Our ambitions, as always, are for many successes. I believe we have the capabilities. The goal is to get out of the Champions League groups, but the level is very high. The truth is that to succeed in the Champions League, you need to pour in huge money, and in the end, when you draw the line, you might still not have succeeded," Zhelyazkov told reporters.

"Hopefully, we will be healthy. The schedule until the New Year is completely cleared. I am very happy that Toshko Skrimov is at "Levski". The most important thing with his recruitment is the human factor; he has an exceptional character. It's one thing for us to explain, and another for young players to see firsthand how it's done by Todor Skrimov and Slavi Gotsev," he added.

"It's true that the conditions at Levski are great, but nothing is a given. We fight for every point, for every victory. The decision for the club's development came quite naturally. We continue to invest in young players and give them a chance to develop. This is the only way Bulgarian volleyball can develop. I saw with my own eyes how much Levski's young team grew last season after the matches with Italian Monza and the other strong teams in European tournaments," concluded the head coach of "Levski Sofia".
