EuroVolley 2024 U18, Day Eight (Semi-finals): France – Italy in the final, Spain – Poland for bronze

The "Roosters" easily reached the gold medal match, while the "Azzurri" faced serious resistance from "Druzyna Polska" (Polish Team).

The semi-final matches of the tournament were played in "Levski Sofia" Hall. Here's a brief recap of what happened on the eighth competitive day of EuroVolley 2024:

1. France – Spain 3:0 (25:20, 25:19, 25:20)

The first semi-final of the European U18 Men's Volleyball Championship in Sofia pitted the "Roosters" against the Iberians. France, who finished at the top of Group A, which was also played in "Levski Sofia" Hall, faced Spain, who performed well in Group B, played in Plovdiv, finishing in second place. The match itself proceeded at an even pace, without significant fluctuations. The "Roosters" won the first set 25:20. The second set was won 25:19, and the third again 25:20. Spain played well but had no answer to the class that the French have demonstrated since the beginning of EuroVolley 2024. "La Furia Roja" will compete for the bronze medals on the final day. France, whose squad includes the name of volleyball player Viden Natsev, fully deserved their 3:0 semi-final win and was already awaiting their opponent in the gold medal match, which will again be played in "Levski Sofia" Hall on Sunday at 6:30 PM.

2. Italy – Poland 3:1 (25:23, 21:25, 25:18, 25:23)

The second semi-final of EuroVolley 2024 for U18 men pitted the leader of Group B and the runner-up of Group A – "Squadra Azzurra" and "Druzyna Polska" (Polish Team), respectively. Unlike the earlier match, this one had more intrigue. Italy won the first set after 25:23, but in the second, Poland leveled the score – 1:1 after 25:21. The third set was much better for the "Azzurri," who managed to take it with a comfortable 7-point lead – 25:18. The Poles, visibly worried by the development of the match, started the fourth set very strongly, with the game and score constantly going back and forth. However, the more organized and experienced Italian team managed to snatch the set with concentrated play in key moments, thus deservedly celebrating their success after 25:23. The Poles played a good tournament but will seek consolation in the third-place match, which will be played on Sunday at 3:30 PM against Spain. Italy, led by Manuel Zlatanov and company, for their part, after winning the semi-final 3:1 sets, calmly looks forward to the big match – the battle for the gold medals against France – on Sunday at 6:30 PM.
