The scandal surrounding Arina Fedorovtseva's premature departure from Shanghai is escalating.

As of yesterday, Arina Fedorovtseva's transfer from Shanghai was still 'stalled', with the process of her move to Fenerbahçe not yet started. This indicates the unresolved situation surrounding the Russian outside hitter, who was initially included in Fenerbahçe's squad on the official website of the Turkish league, but is no longer listed there today. Meanwhile, the Chinese public, active in chat channels dedicated to the Shanghai club, insists that the club take a firm stance, defining the player's premature departure as a true 'escape'. Many wonder why Fedorovtseva chose to move to China, knowing that the Turkish transfer window would close on January 31, while the Chinese league concludes in early March.
Before the last match of the year, won by Shanghai with 3-0, Chinese media cited news fromVolleyball.itregarding the outside hitter's premature return to Turkey. This sparked a wave of controversy in the Chinese volleyball community. In an interview with Shanghai TV, coach Wang Zhiteng responded to rumors of delayed payments, alleged by the player's agents, stating that the player unilaterally terminated the agreement. He confirmed through an official statement that the club had fully complied with the contractual terms without any violations. According to the coach, the contract stipulated that Fedorovtseva was to complete the entire season, without clauses for a specific date for an eventual early termination.

The Shanghai club has already notified the Chinese Volleyball Federation and plans to discuss the case with the International Federation (FIVB) to find a solution. The situation is particularly complex, as the transfer window of the Chinese Volleyball Super League closed at the end of 2024, which prevents the club from acquiring new players to finish the season. The Shanghai coach emphasized that Fedorovtseva was brought in with the goal of winning the title. Up to this point in the season, she has been the team's main scorer, and her departure is a heavy blow to the club's ambitions.
