Assistant coach of the U20 national team Francesco Mollo takes over Metalurg

Volleyball Club "Metallurg" officially presented Francesco Mollo as the new head coach of the men's team. The appointment comes at a crucial moment for the club, which is on the verge of participating in the elite of Bulgarian volleyball, having received an invitation to join Super Volley for the 2026/2027 season. This was announced by the NVL.
The Italian specialist arrives with solid international experience, a modern understanding of the game, and a clearly defined long-term development concept.
Mollo's coaching career began in 2016 at the Volley Torino academy, where he worked with youth players. Two years later, he took the next step, becoming assistant coach for the club's men's team in Serie A3 and gaining valuable professional experience.
In 2022, he took on a team independently in Serie B, and the following season he joined Porto Robur Costa 2030 (Ravenna). There he achieved significant success, leading the U20 team to the championship title in his debut campaign. Concurrently, he was part of the staff of the men's team, which reached the Italian Cup final in Serie A2 under the leadership of Marco Bonitta.
At the beginning of 2025, Mollo took charge of the Porto Robur Costa 2030 academy as head and technical director, responsible for the overall preparation and development of young talents. In parallel, he also joined the staff of the Bulgarian U20 national team as assistant coach to Ventsislav Simeonov.
At "Metallurg", Mollo will play a leading role not only in the senior team but also in building the club's youth structure. His expertise in developing young players and managing the training process is central to the club's ambitious strategy.
With the appointment of Francesco Mollo, "Metallurg" makes a strong statement for sustainable development, building its own identity, and establishing itself both at the men's level and in its academy.
