Metalurg Pernik is on the verge of the elite after a decision by the NVL

Pernik volleyball club "Metalurg" is emerging as the new name in efbet Super Volley from the 2026/2027 season, after the National Volleyball League – Men took a preliminary decision to extend an invitation to the team. This happened during today's working meeting of the league's governing body, where one of the key topics was related to the structure and composition of the elite championship.
The decision comes in the context of the situation surrounding "Dobrudzha 07" (Dobrich), which earned promotion on sporting merit, but subsequently withdrew from participating in the highest level. This opened up an opportunity for the second-placed team in the Higher League – "Metalurg" – to take a spot among the best in the country.
The NVL confirmed that the club from Pernik has already declared its readiness to take the next step in its development. League President Zhivko Zhelev emphasized that the proposal for an invitation was supported by the members of the management, and now everything depends on the fulfillment of the administrative requirements.
The calendar sets a clear timeframe for "Metalurg" – by mid-May, the official application for participation must be submitted. After that, the standard licensing procedure follows, which includes meeting all NVL criteria – from infrastructure and organization to financial stability.
Upon successful completion of this process, the Pernik team will host its matches in "Boris Gyuderov" Hall, which will become a stage for elite volleyball.
An interesting detail is that the club is relatively young – established just four years ago, but already demonstrating a consistent line of development. Second place in the Higher League last season is no accident, but a result of consistent work and a correct sports-technical strategy.
"Metalurg's" entry into efbet Super Volley would add new energy and regional diversity to the championship, while simultaneously being a serious test for the ambitions and real potential of the Pernik club at the highest level.
