Skra Bełchatów will face Bogdanka LUK Lublin and Bulgarian national player Alex Grozdanov in the quarter-finals of the Polish PlusLiga playoffs, after the team finished sixth in the regular season.
In their last match of the main phase, PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów defeated Cuprum Stilon Gorzów 3:1 (25:27, 25:17, 25:19, 25:22) and completed their task, finishing in sixth position in the final standings. Thus, the team led by Krzysztof Stelmach secured a place in the playoffs, where, however, a serious obstacle awaits them against the third-placed team, Bogdanka LUK Lublin.
The quarter-final pairs are:
Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie – ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle
PGE Projekt Warszawa – JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel
Bogdanka LUK Lublin – PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów
Asseco Resovia Rzeszów – Indykpol AZS Olsztyn
This means that Skra will not have an easy task right at the start of the eliminations, as they will face one of the most stable teams of the season. For Bogdanka, this is a clash against a team with traditions, but also with fluctuations during the campaign, while for Alex Grozdanov and his teammates, third place in the regular season gives them home advantage in the series.
The first quarter-final match will be played in Lublin on 28.03 at 21:00.
