Bulgarian international Denislav Bardarov revealed interesting details about his transfer to the Turkish grand Halkbank (Ankara). In an interview for the club's official website, the outside hitter admitted that he practically made his decision as soon as he received the offer. He also spoke about the team's big ambition for the 2026/27 season - the Turkish championship title.
“When a club like Halkbank makes you an offer, it's very difficult to think about other options. The moment I received the offer, I was already 99% sure that the transfer would happen. Looking back, I am convinced that I made the right decision,” Bardarov shared.
The Bulgarian is also aware of the responsibility that comes with playing for one of the most ambitious clubs in Turkish volleyball.
“Playing for this team is a huge responsibility. Our goal is to win every possible match and constantly develop as a team. To contribute to this, you have to give your maximum every day.”
Halkbank participates in the Turkish Efeler League and the CEV Cup tournament, and Bardarov does not hide his confidence in the team's capabilities.
“The team's potential is enormous. We work very hard and give our best in every training session. Now we have to show this potential in the matches. The season is long, but our ambition is to become champions. This is a difficult challenge, but in my opinion, it is entirely possible.”
The professional organization at Halkbank, which allows athletes to concentrate entirely on their athletic preparation, made a particular impression on the national player.
“Halkbank is a great place. Everything is organized so that as an athlete you only have to concentrate on volleyball. The club and its employees take care of everything else. I am truly grateful for their efforts.”
Bardarov has already found his place in the locker room. According to him, the balance between young and experienced players is among the team's strengths.
“We are all moving in one direction. We are trying to build something special and create a strong bond between us. We have a good combination of young, ambitious players and experienced volleyball players who can help them develop.”
The Bulgarian outside hitter is already well acquainted with Turkish volleyball, having played for Istanbul BBSK and Cizre Belediyespor before Halkbank, and also having a stint in the Italian SuperLega in his career. He admits that he feels increasingly connected to Turkey and is happy with life in Ankara.
“Ankara is a beautiful city and I really like living here. With each year, I feel more and more connected to Turkey. I've made many friends, adapted well to the culture, and the food is incredible.”
Bardarov also has a clear idea of the mark he wants to leave in professional volleyball.
“I want to be remembered for my hard work, discipline, and for never giving up. I want to show that success comes not only from talent, but also through perseverance, passion, and the desire to get better every day.”
In conclusion, the national player thanked Halkbank fans for their support and assured them that the players will continue to give their maximum to achieve the club's goals.
