Neftochimic 2010 (Burgas) continued their successful start in WINBET Super Volley, after defeating Lokomotiv Avia (Plovdiv) with a score of 3:1 (27:25, 25:16, 19:25, 25:20) in one of the most interesting matches of the second round.
In the "Mladost" hall, the Burgas team took a 2:0 lead in sets, but the visitors managed to bring back the intrigue before the hosts decided the match in the fourth part. Thus, Neftochimic recorded a second consecutive victory in the championship.
Dramatic first set
The match started evenly, with both teams repeatedly exchanging the lead. Neftochimic managed to build a 24:22 lead after an ace by Stefan Skakich, but the Plovdiv team responded with two consecutive points and equalized.
A new exchange of points followed until 25:25, when Stoyan Dimitrov took responsibility. First, he successfully completed an attack, and then he scored an ace for 27:25, giving the Burgas team the lead.
In the second set, the hosts imposed a significantly more serious superiority and won convincingly with 25:16.
Lokomotiv returned to the match, Chavdarov led Neftochimic to victory
The visitors from Plovdiv did not give up and managed to reduce their deficit after 25:19 in the third set, which put the final outcome of the match in question.
The fourth part, however, passed under the control of Neftochimic after a strong series in the middle of the set. At a crucial moment, captain Stefan Chavdarov distinguished himself with decisive serves and aces, which helped the Burgas team pull away in the score.
The hosts took an 18:14 lead, and subsequently increased their advantage to 23:18. Lokomotiv Avia failed to organize another comeback and Neftochimic closed the set with 25:20.
Dimitar Vasilev was chosen as the most valuable player (MVP) of the match.
After the victory over Dea Sport in the first round, the Burgas team added another success against one of their serious competitors in the championship. Lokomotiv Avia, on the other hand, suffered its first defeat of the season, after starting the championship with a victory over Montana.
