Aleksandar Kostadinov was the top scorer for Lokomotiv Novosibirsk in the team's second consecutive victory in the "Vladimir Savin" Legends Cup tournament.
The team led by Plamen Konstantinov defeated Nova Novokuybyshevsk 3-0 (25:21, 25:22, 25:17) in front of their home crowd in Novosibirsk and continues without losing a set after their first two matches.
Kostadinov finished the match with 13 points and topped Lokomotiv's scorers. Mikhail Vishnyakov and Ilya Kazachenkov added 11 points each, Fyodor Voronkov scored 7, and Radzhab Shahbanmirzaev and Denis Chereisky – 5 each.
A day earlier, Lokomotiv started their participation with another clean victory – 3-0 (25:19, 25:17, 25:21) against Dynamo-LO. Then Omar Kurbanov was the top scorer with 14 points and 71% efficiency, while Radzhab and Voronkov finished with 11 each.
Zenit Kazan also won their first two matches. The Kazan team defeated Nova 3-0 (25:18, 25:21, 25:18), and then prevailed over Dynamo-LO with 3-1 (28:26, 25:21, 21:25, 25:18).
Thus, today Lokomotiv and Zenit Kazan face each other in a direct clash of two undefeated teams in Group B. The match in "Lokomotiv Arena" starts at 7:00 PM local time – 3:00 PM Bulgarian time.
The first round in Group B of the Legends Cup takes place from September 20 to 22 in Novosibirsk, and the second will be from September 30 to October 2 in Kazan. The top two teams in the group advance.
Lokomotiv is playing the first round without Luciano De Cecco. The Argentine setter was engaged with his national team at the South American Championship in Rio de Janeiro until September 20, where Argentina finished second after losing to Brazil in the decisive match. In his absence, Plamen Konstantinov has Egor Krechetov and Korney Nikolaev at his disposal.
