Poland continues without losing a set at the European Championship in Sofia. Nikola Grbic's team recorded their third consecutive 3-0 victory, this time defeating North Macedonia – 3:0 (25:19, 25:16, 25:13).
After Portugal and Israel, North Macedonia also failed to take a set from the European champions. Interestingly, the resistance of the Macedonians was strongest at the beginning of the match.
Poland took a 12:8 lead in the first set, but their opponent managed to close the gap to 12:13. Gradually, however, the class of the Poles asserted itself. Bartlomiej Lemanski's serve helped create a new lead, and the set ended at 25:19.
From then on, the difference between the two teams grew steadily. The Polish block seriously hampered North Macedonia's attack, and in the second set, the lead reached 20:13 before the final 25:16.
In the third set, the intrigue practically disappeared even earlier. Lemanski and Jakub Nowak gave Poland a significant advantage in the middle, and Nikola Grbic had the opportunity to use players from the bench. The Poles closed the match with a decisive 25:13.
Bartosz Bolondz was the top scorer for the winners with 13 points, Artur Szalpuk added 12, Bartlomiej Lemanski – 9, Tomasz Fornal – 8, and Jakub Nowak – 7. For North Macedonia, Nikola Ljaftov finished with 7 points.
After their first three matches in Group B, Poland has a perfect record of three wins and a set ratio of 9:0.
