Krasimir Georgiev swapped Steaua for Rapid (Bucharest)

Former Bulgarian international Krasimir Georgiev will officially continue his career at Rapid (Bucharest). The Romanian club introduced the 205-centimeter middle blocker as one of its new signings for the 2026/27 season, thereby strengthening its blocking game.
The 31-year-old volleyball player arrives at Rapid from another Bucharest club – Steaua, for which he played during the 2025/26 season. Thus, Georgiev remains in the Romanian championship but swaps a city rival for one of the country's most popular clubs.

In their official presentation, Rapid emphasizes the Bulgarian's rich international experience, who has played for CSKA, Neftochimik 2010, and Hebar in Bulgaria, as well as for PAOK (Greece), Ravenna (Italy), Rennes and Cannes (France), Arcada Galati (Romania), and Steaua (Bucharest) during his career. The club highlights his strong blocking, intelligent play at the net, and accumulated experience at the highest European level.
Georgiev also has significant experience with the Bulgarian national team, with which he has participated in numerous international tournaments, including the VNL in 2025.
Interestingly, despite his transfer to one of the most popular Romanian clubs, Krasimir Georgiev will not play in European tournaments during the 2026/27 season, as Rapid did not qualify for any of the three CEV club competitions.
