Bulgarian volleyball player Edna Todorova recorded 5 points and 81% positive reception in the 0:3 (10:25, 14:25, 13:25) loss of Norwegian Førde to Greek AEK (Athens) in the first match of the 1/64 finals of the Women's CEV Challenge Cup.
The 17-year-old Bulgarian started as a starter and remained on the court for all three sets of the match, which took place in the Olympic Village in Athens. Although Førde was formally the home team, the match was played in the Greek team's hall.
Todorova received 16 serves, achieving 81% positive and 19% excellent reception. In attack, she scored 5 points from 15 attempts for a 33% success rate. The Bulgarian also served six times without recording a direct ace.
AEK asserted its dominance from the very first rallies and won the opening set 25:10. The Greek team continued to control the match in the next two parts, which ended 25:14 and 25:13.
Despite the significant difference between the two teams, Todorova demonstrated stability in reception. She was second in workload for this element in Førde after libero Marte Gundersen, who was targeted with 19 serves.
The Bulgarian athlete is part of the generation that won the European U18 Girls' Championship in 2024 and the U19 World Championship in 2025. Before moving to Førde, she played for another Norwegian team – Volda.
The two rivals will meet again today, October 28, at 19:30 Bulgarian time. The return leg will also take place in Athens, with AEK needing two won sets to secure qualification for the next round.
