The Bulgarian U18 girls' national team continues its flawless performance at the Balkan Championship in the Albanian capital, Tirana. In their second match of the tournament, the trainees of coach Atanas Petrov defeated Turkey 3:1 (25:17, 25:20, 22:25, 25:23) in a match that required significant effort and was played in the afternoon.
With this success, the young Bulgarian volleyball players now have a perfect record – two wins in two matches and 6 points, which puts them in an extremely advantageous position in the fight for the title. The championship format includes only four participants – hosts Albania, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Turkey – who face each other in a round-robin system. The champion will be the team with the best final balance.
The decisive match for the Bulgarian team is scheduled for tomorrow, June 23, against hosts Albania, again starting at 17:30 Bulgarian time. A victory in this match would secure the trophy.
A key figure in the victory against Turkey was Bozhidara Ivanova, who shone with an impressive 21 points (2 blocks, 1 ace, and 51% attack efficiency, +13). Ena Todorova also made a significant contribution with 16 points (3 aces, 33% attack efficiency, and 58% positive reception, +12), as did Katerina Popova with 14 points (1 block, 2 aces, 27% attack efficiency, and 53% positive reception, +6).
For the Turkish team, Hiranur Baygara was the top scorer with 17 points (1 block, 43% attack efficiency, and 61% positive reception, +8), while Minel Nevin and substitute Ecem Türkyaşar each contributed 12 points.
