The US women's national team recorded their fifth victory in the Volleyball Nations League, after defeating the Czech Republic with a decisive 3:0 (25:17, 25:12, 25:16) in a match from the second week of the tournament in Pasay City (Philippines).
The Americans dominated the entire match and had a significant advantage in all key elements. The USA scored 40 points from attack against 27 for the Czech Republic, made 12 direct block points against 5 for their opponent, and finished with a tie in serves – 8 aces each. The American team also capitalized on significantly more opponent errors – 15 points against 5.
In other statistics, the Czech Republic recorded more digs in defense (55 against 53), better reception (70 against 44), and better attack organization (96 against 70), but this was not enough to compensate for the huge difference in attack and block.
Thompson was the top scorer for the winners with 15 points, while Ogbogu added 11. For the Czech Republic, Jehlářová was above all with 8 points, while Kulisiani finished with 7.
After the victory, the USA accumulated 14 points and climbed to second place in the Women's VNL provisional standings, while the Czech Republic remains eighth with 9 points.
The victory also brought a positive boost in the world ranking. The Americans gained 4.39 points and moved up one position to 6th place with a total of 337.46 points. The Czech Republic lost 4.39 points, but maintains 13th place in the world ranking with 220.32 points.
