The Turkish men's national team recorded their second victory in the Volleyball Nations League after defeating the tournament host in Ottawa
Canada by 3:2 (25:21, 17:25, 25:23, 14:25, 15:8) in a match from the first week of the competition.
The match offered significant drama and saw numerous lead changes. The Turks took the lead after a strong first set, won 25:21, but the Canadians reacted convincingly and equalized with a 25:17 win in the second. The third set was the most contested in the match, with our southern neighbors taking it by a narrow 25:23 and once again taking the lead.
Canada, however, did not give up and crushed their opponent in the fourth set with 25:14, sending the match to a tie-break. In the decisive fifth set, the Turkish team demonstrated greater concentration and efficiency, establishing control from the start and securing a convincing 15:8.
The first referee of the match was Ivaylo Ivanov.

Statistics show an extremely close contest. Canada finished with a slight advantage in attack (54 against 52 points), while Turkey was better in blocking (10 against 9) and serving (8 against 5 aces). A significant role in the success of the Turks was also played by their more stable reception game, where they recorded 86 successful actions against 76 for their opponent.
The top scorer in the match was Canadian Young with 18 points, and his teammate Eric Loeppky added 15. For Turkey, the best scorers were Tümer and Bayram with 14 points each.
After this success, Turkey climbed to 11th place in the interim standings of the Volleyball Nations League. The loss, however, dropped Canada to 13th position.
The victory also brought valuable points for the FIVB world ranking. Turkey now occupies 12th place in the world, while Canada dropped to 11th position. Bulgaria benefited from the change, climbing to 10th place in the world ranking before the last two matches of the first week of the tournament.
