Moscow's "Dynamo" won the Russian Men's Volleyball Cup for the fifth time in its history, after staging a dramatic comeback against "Zenit" (Saint Petersburg) and triumphing 3:2 (21:25, 19:25, 26:24, 25:13, 15:10) in the final in Moscow.
Konstantin Bryanskiy's team was trailing 0:2 in sets, but managed to break their opponent after the crucial third set, won 26:24. After that, the Muscovites totally dominated the fourth set, and in the tie-break, they took the lead early and did not relinquish the initiative until the end.
Maxim Sapozhkov was outstanding for the winners with 24 points and sealed the final with an ace. Denis Bogdan added 20 points, and Pavel Pankov played a key role in the comeback with his excellent setting and a series of serves in the third set.
For "Zenit", Vladislav Babkevich scored 26 points, and Marlon Yant finished with 14. The Petersburg team dominated the first two sets mainly due to their strong serve, but then experienced a significant drop in attack performance.
This is "Dynamo"'s fifth Russian Cup after the trophies in 2006, 2008, 2020, 2024, and 2026. The Muscovites have already won the Russian championship this season.
"Zenit" SPb, in turn, lost its fourth Russian Cup final in its history after 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2026.
Sapozhkov is the tournament's MVP.
