Alex Nikolov's rehabilitation is progressing smoothly. The Bulgarian outside hitter for Cucine Lube Civitanova is training in the gym with weights at the "Eurosuole Forum" with the team's conditioning coach Max Merazzi, to be fresh again for the start of preparation in August. This was announced by the club's official websitelubevolley.it. Having just undergone surgery on Tuesday, June 4, to remove the herniated disc problem, the Balkan volleyball player is regaining his familiar super form. The goal is to complete this phase in August and then begin full, comprehensive sports preparation with his teammates.

Here's what Alex himself shared with Lube's official website:
"I'm doing well! I feel better and better! I'm here in the gym to work and get back into shape. Although I was happy for the team and my teammates after the victory in the 5th place playoff, for me, the SuperLega tournament ended with a very bitter taste – with back pain and unable to get on the court. Not having the chance to help your club is the worst thing that can happen, but now I want to get back to the top and repay with good play next year. Everything depends on how I feel day by day, but the prognosis is encouraging because I have good chances to start my preparation with the team at the same pace as my teammates. These days I'm following the matches of my brother Simeon, who is a very young setter for the Bulgarian national team, led by our former coach Chico Blengini. A complete team with two Nikolovs in the Nations League would have been great, my country's selection is working hard. I see my little brother improving with every set and match – I can't wait to be able to play with him. I'm also excited to start the season with Lube. I've already met twice with our new head coach Giampaolo Medei to get to know him first. We have many matches ahead of us together."
