New three national players join Samokov, the group swells to 19
Първо във VolleyWeek

The Bulgarian men's national team is gradually increasing its squad during the training camp in Samokov. Today, Boris Nachev and Jasmin Velichkov joined the group, and Hristiyan Dimitrov will join the team tomorrow. Thus, the total number of players reaches 19.
We remind you that, as we were the first to report, at the start of the preparation in the "SamElion" complex, there were 16 volleyball players. The national team started their camp at the well-known base, where last year's preparation also took place.
At this stage, the squad does not include players from the finalists of the Bulgarian championship – Levski and Neftochimic, as they only finished their season yesterday and it is highly likely they will receive a rest until the end of next week. They are expected to join the preparation gradually.
A total of six volleyball players from both clubs are included in the extended squad of the national team:

Neftochimic 2010:

  • Lyuboslav Telkiyski (setter)

  • Yasen Petrov (libero)

Levski Sofia:

  • Stoil Palev (setter)

  • Lazar Buchkov (middle blocker)

  • Damyan Kolev (libero)

  • Dimitar Dobrev (libero)

Additionally, two players from the U22 national team – Tomislav Rusev and Kostadin Kozelov – will be included in the group. At a later stage, Martin Atanasov and Samuil Valchinov will also join the preparation. The setter Simeon Nikolov is expected to arrive last, as he has commitments with his club team Lokomotiv Novosibirsk in the Russian Cup tournament in mid-May.

Squad for the first camp:

Setters:
Anton Stanchev (Lokomotiv Avia)
Viktor Zhekov (Montana)

Opposites:
Venislav Antov (Tourcoing, France)
Dimitar Dimitrov (Busan, South Korea)

Outside Hitters:

Vladimir Garkov (Saint-Nazaire, France)
Denislav Bardarov (IBB, Turkey)
Denis Karyagin (Macerata, Italy)

Rusi Zhelev (Macerata, Italy)

Iliya Petkov (Grottazzolina, Italy)

As the squad is gradually completed, competition in all lines will intensify, with the most significant impact expected after the players from Levski and Neftochimic join.
