Paris took a significant step towards the semi-finals of the French championship after defeating regular season leader Tours at home with a score of 3:2 (23:25, 25:15, 25:23, 26:28, 15:11) in the first match of the quarter-final series.
Mauricio Paes' team, which recently won the French Cup, took a 1-0 lead in the series and will seek another victory during their away match in Tours on April 9 to secure a spot in the semi-finals.
The match offered serious drama, with Tours managing to force a tie-break after an evenly contested battle in the fourth set. In the decisive part, however, the blocking of the Parisians played a key role. Nick Muyanovich was stopped several times, with two blocks against him coming at the most crucial moments, including the one that ended the match. The hosts also added two aces in the tie-break and committed one less error, which tipped the scales in their favor.
Asparuh Asparuhov was among the most consistent for Tours, finishing with 14 points, 1 ace, 54% positive reception, and 41% attack efficiency. The top scorer for the guests was Nick Muyanovich with 24 points, while the outstanding player in the match was Vasily Molotkov from Paris, who previously played in Montana, with 28 points and an impressive 6 aces.

Team Statistics:
| Metric | Paris | Tours |
|---|---|---|
| Blocks | 11 | 8 |
| Attack Efficiency | 55% | 48% |
| Attack Points | 65 | 58 |
| Positive Reception | 53% | 51% |
| Aces | 10 | 3 |
| Service Errors | 31 | 23 |
| Points from Opponent Errors | 28 | 33 |
The statistics show Paris' superiority in key elements – blocking and serving. The difference of 10 aces versus 3 is decisive in such a close match, and better attack efficiency also tips the balance towards the hosts. Tours compensated with more points from opponent errors, but this was not enough to achieve a comeback.
