Bulgarian international Martin Atanasov will officially continue his career with the Indonesian championsJakarta Bhayangkara Presisi, after leaving Italian Vero Volley Monza, volleyweek.bg learned.
The outside hitter has already taken the next step in his new challenge, departing for the Far East today. He is expected to join his new team, Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi, which has already secured a spot in the Final Four of the Indonesian Proliga. The tournament will take place between April 2 and 5 in Surabaya. The champions will face strong competition from Jakarta LavAni, Surabaya Samator, and Jakarta Garuda Jaya in the battle for the title. Martin Atanasov is expected to join the team precisely during the decisive phase of the championship, which further strengthens the champions' ambitions to defend their title.
A strong period in Italy and a Bulgarian connection in Monza
Atanasov leaves behind a solid period in the Italian SuperLega, where he was part of the Monza squad. In the team, he formed a Bulgarian tandem with Zhasmin Velichkov, with both of them being among the important figures in the team's rotation.

During the season, the outside hitter recorded 25 matches and scored 226 points in the championship and playoffs, ranking 30th among scorers in the Italian SuperLega with an average of 3.10 points per set and 73 break points. Atanasov's departure comes just before Monza's "Bulgarian" derby against Padova in the playoffs for fifth place.
A new challenge in a championship project
Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi is one of the leading clubs in Asia and the current champion of Indonesia, with the project being supported by the national police and possessing significant resources and ambitions.
The club has a significant international track record, with names like:
Earvin Ngapeth
Jean Patry
Leonardo Martinez
Noumory Keita
Gareth Mouchaoutias
This clearly shows the level and ambition of the team, which the Bulgarian international is now joining.
Atanasov also comes to challenge for the Asian Champions League title.
Martin Atanasov's transfer is likely directly linked to Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi's participation in the Asian Champions League, which will take place in Pontianak (Indonesia) from May 13–17, 2026. Following the draw, the Indonesian champions were placed in Group A, where they will face:
Al Rayyan (Qatar)
Hyundai Capital Skywalkers (South Korea)
Zhayyk VC (Kazakhstan)
This is an extremely tough group with representatives from three strong volleyball schools.
New stage in career
The move to Indonesia opens a new chapter in the career of Martin Atanasov, who will have the opportunity to be a leading figure in one of the most ambitious projects in Asian volleyball and to solidify his position on the international stage.
