Martin Ivanov, the libero for volleyball team Lokomotiv Avia (Plovdiv), will lead the list of the civil movement 'SIYANIYE' in the 16th Electoral District Plovdiv-city for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The news was announced by Nikolay Popov – father of Siyana, who died in a car accident.

Popov announced the registration of the list via a post on social media. He clarified that the documents were submitted by Martin Ivanov and Simeon Trulev.

'Martin Ivanov and Simeon Trulev registered the SIYANIYE list in Plovdiv,' Nikolay Popov wrote on his Facebook profile. Dozens of people commented on the post, wishing success to the initiative in the upcoming elections.

Popov also confirmed that the movement will have a list in Plovdiv-region.

Earlier, he announced that the Lokomotiv Avia volleyball player himself would lead the candidate-deputy list in the city under the hills. According to him, Ivanov is an active young man who became one of the faces of the protests against the government in December.

The athlete's story is also connected to a personal tragedy.

'Some time ago, Marti lost his father after he was hit on a pedestrian crossing. For this reason, SIYANIYE's cause is so close to him. People who have experienced the deepest pain would never sell themselves to the backstage politics,' writes Nikolay Popov.

Martin Ivanov is a well-known name in volleyball circles in Plovdiv, where he defends the colors of Lokomotiv Avia as a libero. Now he will attempt to transfer his active public stance to the political scene.
