The SamElion sports complex in Samokov will receive international recognition as a center of excellence in volleyball under the auspices of the International Federation (FIVB). The news was announced by the president of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, Lyubomir Ganev, at the end of today's press conference dedicated to the development of beach volleyball.
According to him, during the FIVB congress in November, the Bulgarian Federation will sign a memorandum by which the complex will acquire the status of an international center for the training and development of volleyball players.
"This is good news that no one knows yet. At the FIVB congress in November, we will sign a memorandum by which the SamElion complex becomes a center of excellence in volleyball. It will be available for use by absolutely all federations," Ganev announced.
The President of the BFV specified that work on the project has been ongoing since last year, and he specifically congratulated the owner of the complex, Petar Georgiev, for what has been achieved.
Ganev emphasized that there are few such centers in the world, pointing to existing bases in Africa and Italy, as well as a recently established center in France for beach volleyball.
"SamElion" offers conditions for the comprehensive training of professional athletes – sports halls, gyms, a rehabilitation center, recovery specialists, nutrition, and the necessary supporting infrastructure.
"I want to say once again that "SamElion", in addition to being a base for our men's national team, is now becoming a world-class base," said Lyubomir Ganev.
The upcoming signing of the memorandum will be the official step towards the inclusion of the Bulgarian complex in the FIVB's international system of centers of excellence.
