The future of Bulgarian international Boris Nachev is already clear – according to information fromvolleyweek.bgthe middle blocker will continue in Padua for the next season as well. This is made possible by the signed contract, which is for 1+1 years on loan. The decision comes after a difficult first year in Serie A1, marked by injuries and a gradual return to optimal form.
From summer problems to silver in Manila
Nachev missed the first week of the Nations League due to an injury sustained in the summer. He subsequently participated in some of the national team's matches, including the World Championship in Manila, where Bulgaria won silver medals.

After his transfer to Italy, however, the middle blocker was again plagued by problems – this time in his shoulder. The injury kept him out of play for an extended period and slowed down his adaptation to the Superlega.
The Return – in the last two rounds
Nachev appeared for a longer period in the last two rounds of the regular season, staying on the court for the entire match in the penultimate round of the regular season during Padua's prestigious away victory against Cuneo with a score of 3:2 (21:25, 25:17, 22:25, 25:21, 16:14). Jacopo Cuttini's team showed character, twice overcoming a deficit in the sets and winning the tie-break after a tough battle.

The Bulgarian's full match in this game was a clear sign that his physical problems were now under control.
Boris Nachev Statistics – Serie A1 (Regular Season 2025/2026)
| Matches | Sets | Total points | Attacks | Points from attack | Attack % | Block | Ace |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | 13 | 11 | 16 | 7 | 44% | 3 | 1 |
The numbers clearly show the impact of the injury on his season – participation in 6 matches and 13 sets is a limited volume for a middle blocker in Serie A1. At the same time, his attacking efficiency is fully competitive – 7 points from 16 attempts or 44%, which is a solid percentage for a player returning after a long recovery.
The three blocks in a relatively small game volume suggest that his main element remains at a high level, and the single ace completes the positive picture. More importantly, in the decisive match against Cuneo, he physically endured an entire game in an intense five-set clash.
After a difficult start in Italy, marked by a shoulder injury, Nachev now has the opportunity for full preparation and a real battle for a place in the starting lineup. If he maintains his effectiveness in attack and builds upon his blocking presence, his second season in Serie A1 could prove to be the real breakthrough for one of the most promising Bulgarian middle blockers.
