"I dedicate the victory to my newborn son": Komenda gave wings to Lublin for the big comeback

There are matches that are won with blocking, serving, and a cool head.
There are also those that are won with something that doesn't appear in the statistics – with heart, with character, and with news that changes a person.

Precisely such was the Champions League match against Knack ROESELARE in Lublin for Marcin Komenda.

The setter for Bogdanka LUK Lublin stepped onto the court not just as the captain of the Polish champions, but as a brand-new father. His son – Maksymilian – was born on the eve of the match, and after the end, Komenda spoke frankly to Polsat Sport's microphone, stating that this was the most important event in his life.

And as if this emotion gave him 'a second wind' and additional strength in the toughest moment.

From 0:2 sets and match points… to a victory that smells of character.

Lublin had their backs against the wall.
The Belgians already had the match in their hands – 2:0 sets, and the tension threatened to turn the evening into a nightmare.

Komenda himself admitted to Polsat Sport that the team wasn't in its best form, but there was something more important – it knows how to survive.

'We have our problems, we are not in our best form. But even though we don't play superbly, we can 'push through' these matches… If we had lost 0:3, things could have gotten nervous.'

And here comes the key: when things aren't going well, Lublin pulls together. When they seem lost – they become dangerous.

Exactly how the comeback was born – not by chance, but as a result of volleyball maturity and mentality.

'I dedicate this victory to my son and my wife.'

After the match, the captain wasn't looking for heroism in his words. He simply said what the audience loves to hear – because it's real.

Again in front of the Polsat Sport camera, Komenda added:

'Having children is the greatest achievement in life. My son Maksymilian was born, and I dedicate this victory to him and my wife. I love you, and this is for you.'

In such moments, sports transcend the score.
This is no longer just a match, but a story – about a man who, on the same day, carries two responsibilities: to lead a team and to become a father.

And sometimes, precisely this responsibility gives wings.

Lublin is flying in the group, and their leader plays like a man who has someone to play for.

With their fourth victory, Bogdanka LUK Lublin is now at the top of the group and looks like a team that finds its way even on difficult days.

But this evening will be remembered not only for the qualification.

It will be remembered as the match in which Marcin Komenda played like a young father with that special energy that cannot be trained.
And when life gives you the greatest joy sometimes you can turn around even the toughest match.
