The turmoil at VC Cherno More (Varna) began with their failure in the Bulgarian Cup tournament. The "Sailors" failed to qualify for the quarter-finals after finishing the autumn half-season in a disappointing ninth place in efbet Super Volley. This proved to be the starting point for a series of serious changes in the club.
The first parting was with head coach Dani Milushev. Shortly after, the news of Viktor Yosifov's departure came, and the problems at the net's center deepened to the point where Cherno More was practically left without a single healthy middle blocker.
"Cherno More was left without middle blockers after Viktor Yosifov departed and ended his competitive career. The second middle blocker, Tomislav Rusev, will undergo surgery in two days and will be unavailable for at least a month. There's also a problem with the third middle blocker Konstantin Stoykov. We are already looking for replacements, but it will be difficult," stated toVolleyball.bgthe club's president Krasimir Iliev.
Viktor Yosifov's decision came on the same day that head coach Dani Milushev was released. The experienced middle blocker, who celebrated his 40th birthday in October, bid farewell to his teammates and is currently ending his active competitive career, leaving the ranks of the "Sailors."
Changes at the club's helm were not long in coming. The new head coach of Cherno More's men's team is Yordan Mitsin. The decision was made by club boss Krasimir Iliev and officially announced today. Mitsin returns to Varna, where he played as a setter during the 1995/1996 season, but this time in the role of coach. He comes from VC Pirin (Razlog), where he worked in the club's academy.
An interesting point is that father and son will be reunited in one team, as Daniel Mitsin has been playing for Cherno More since the beginning of the season. The youth national team player also plays as a setter.
During the holidays, tension in the club increased, and the parting with Dani Milushev is now an official fact. Further squad changes are expected before the spring part of the championship, and it is not excluded that Cherno More might also part ways with some of the foreign players they brought in.
