Polish journalist Jakub Balcerzak reports that Asseco Resovia Rzeszów is considering acquiring Bulgarian middle blocker Alex Grozdanov, who currently plays for champions BOGDANKA LUK Lublin. The news comes amidst Grozdanov's exceptionally strong season in PlusLiga, as well as his key role in winning the club's first-ever title last year for the Lublin club.
During the championship season, the Bulgarian international played 39 matches, scored 317 points, attacked with 62% efficiency, and his most prominent weapon was again the block – 99 blocks and an average of 2.54 points from blocks per set, which earned him second place in the middle blockers' ranking, just one point behind Norbert Huber. These statistics convinced the management to extend his contract, and in the summer, Grozdanov added a silver medal from the World Championship in the Philippines and a spot in the Mondial's Dream Team to his resume.
The new season also started in the same style – 90 points in eight matches and a league-leading performance in blocks. This form is precisely what makes Resovia closely monitor the situation around the Bulgarian player. Currently, only Dawid Woch has a contract for the 2026/27 season, while the other middle blockers – Mateusz Poręba, Cezary Sapiński, and Dani Demianenko – have an uncertain future. This places a clear priority on strengthening the central zone.
According to Polish media, rumors of a potential transfer have a logical basis, as Resovia's current coach – Massimo Botti – has already worked successfully with Grozdanov, and the two won both the Polish title and the Challenge Cup.
All of this makes the Bulgarian one of the most desired names on the market, and if Balcerzak proves correct, Resovia could secure one of PlusLiga's most influential middle blockers.
