Florian Schnetzer, before the tournament in St. Vlas: Beach volleyball on the beach itself is the most authentic experience in this sport

The top seed in the Sveti Vlas draw hopes the tournament will bring them enough points to qualify for the European Championship.
Conditions for holding competitions in modern beach volleyball can be created anywhere, and the enjoyment of tournaments on a real beach, by the sea waves, is becoming an increasingly rare luxury for competitors and fans in the international calendar, especially in Europe. That is precisely why the upcoming Futures tournament in Sveti Vlas from the Beach Pro Tour world series, which will take place from June 6 to 9 at the beautiful Venid Beach next to the Marina Dinevi yacht port, is among the most attractive destinations this season.

“Playing beach volleyball near the sea is simply the best option and offers the purest and most authentic experience in this sport,” said Austrian star Florian Schnetzer, who is preparing to head to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast to plunge into the sandy battles of Sveti Vlas Futures in tandem with Lorenz Petutschnig.
“As a team, we are really looking forward to playing in such a beautiful place in Bulgaria. I have already played tournaments in Bulgaria, and they have always been great and well organized,” the Austrian added.

Three years ago, Schnetzer & Petutschnig participated in three of the four tournaments in Sofia from the last season of the FIVB World Tour. In one of them, they managed to reach the quarterfinals, and in another, they were eliminated by the experienced Bulgarian pair Milen Stoyanov & Miroslav Gradinarov after a tie-break. Now, however, Schnetzer & Petutschnig are seeded number 1 in the main draw for men in Sveti Vlas and have excellent chances for an even better performance on Bulgarian soil. Sveti Vlas Futures will be the first international tournament for Schnetzer & Petutschnig in 2024, and they hope to gain valuable points for the world and European rankings at the start of their season.
“For us, the tournament is extremely important,” Schnetzer continued. “This is our first international tournament, and we still have a small chance to qualify for the European Championship. So we are going in with full force, we will play match by match and fight to the maximum, and then we will see if it's enough. Of course, we also hope for good weather in Sveti Vlas. I love playing in the heat, so I hope it will be hot and slightly windy.”

Sveti Vlas Futures from June 6 to 9 is the first Beach Pro Tour world series beach volleyball tournament in Bulgaria. The tournament is held under the auspices of Volleyball World, the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV), and the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation (BVF) and is organized by Dinevi Group and Nu Boyana Film Studios. Tournament partners are Flair, SAMSUNG, NUII, Nova Sport, White Waters, BTA, FilmForge, as well as the Municipalities of Nessebar, Burgas, and Byala, and Marina Dinevi yacht port.
