One of the most incredible comebacks in volleyball happened in Greece, where the women's team of Moschato won a tie-break in which they were trailing by nine points – 4:13!
The drama unfolded in a quarter-final match for the Cup of the regional volleyball association ESPEDA against the hosts from Irida Nea Smyrni. The unusual comeback was reported by the Greek specialized publication Volleynews.gr.
At 13:4 in the decisive fifth game, the hosts needed only two points to win the match. Instead, something extraordinary followed – Moschato scored 11 consecutive points, without allowing their opponents to win a single rally, and closed the tie-break with 15:13.
The match ended with a 3:2 victory for the visiting team (25:17, 25:27, 24:26, 25:22, 15:13).
Before the incredible outcome, Moschato had won the first set, but Irida turned the score to 2:1 after two contested parts. The visitors equalized for 2:2, and then created the sensation in the tie-break.
Thus, the team led by Artemis Halvadji qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament.
