Canada and Cuba will determine who will win the NORCECA Olympic quota for the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
The two teams won the semifinals of the Olympic qualification in Moncton and will meet in the decisive match at the "Avenir Centre". The winner of the final will receive the only quota for Los Angeles 2028, allocated at this tournament.
Canada was the first to reach the final after defeating Mexico 3:0 (25:21, 25:18, 25:13). The hosts had a significant advantage in all key elements – 42:31 points from attack, 8:0 in blocks, and 8:2 direct points from serves. Eric Loeppky was the top scorer with 17 points, and Sharone Vernon-Evans added 13.
In the second semifinal, Cuba also overcame the Dominican Republic 3:0 (32:30, 25:19, 25:15). The first set proved to be the most difficult for the Cubans, in which the Dominican Republic had six opportunities to win it before Cuba snatched the set 32:30.
The Cubans finished with an advantage of 51:35 in attack and 16:7 in blocks. Captain Miguel Lopez scored 23 points, Marlon Yant added 14, and Robertlandy Simon – 10.

One match for Los Angeles

The Canada – Cuba final is on September 19 at 7:00 PM local time in Moncton, or 1:00 AM on September 20 Bulgarian time. The winner will receive a direct quota for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
Canada and Cuba have already secured their participation in the 2027 World Cup in Poland, after finishing second and third respectively at the NORCECA Championship. The USA won the continental title but are not participating in the Olympic qualification, as they have a guaranteed spot in Los Angeles as hosts of the Games.

The two finalists have already met once in Moncton. In the semifinal of the NORCECA Championship, Canada defeated Cuba 3:0 (26:24, 25:22, 25:17). Now, however, the stakes are much higher – one victory separates Canada or Cuba from the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
