The Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC) and the Human Resources Development Centre – the National Agency for Bulgaria under the "Erasmus+" program, signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation.
The document was signed by the Chairperson of the BOC, Vesela Lecheva, and the Executive Director of the HRDC, Nikolay Spasov, and the goal is to make the opportunities of "Erasmus+" more accessible to the Bulgarian sports community.
The program has a special "Sport" sector, through which the European Union supports international cooperation, grassroots sports, physical activity, social inclusion, equality, and integrity in sport.
The partnership should encourage more active participation of Bulgarian sports federations, clubs, coaches, athletes, and volunteers in European projects, trainings, partnerships, and mobilities.
The BOC and HRDC also envision joint national and international events, forums, information campaigns, and sports initiatives. Olympians, other athletes, and coaches will also be able to be engaged as ambassadors of Olympic and European values.
"Our common goal is for Bulgarian sport to be an even more active participant in European cooperation, and for more young people, athletes, coaches, and organizations to get a chance to develop their potential and exchange experience," stated Nikolay Spasov and Vesela Lecheva.
With the memorandum, the two organizations will try to build a more direct link between Bulgarian sport and the opportunities for funding, training, and international exchange offered by "Erasmus+".
