A new Dupnitsa club named "Marek" will be part of Bulgarian club volleyball.
Today, the deputy mayor of Dupnitsa Municipality, Boyko Hristov, announced this at a special press conference. Its registration with the Volleyball Federation is currently underway, according to the website4vlast-bg.com. The news was also confirmed by the Dupnitsa Municipality.

As became clear earlier in the year, the four-time Bulgarian champion "Marek-Union Ivkon" left Dupnitsa after a misunderstanding with the municipal administration regarding the use of the Sports Hall. In March, the team played its last match in front of the local public. The team secured its place in the elite for the next season after winning a playout match against "Minior" Pernik. After that, they changed their name to "Lokomotiv Avia" and moved to Plovdiv thanks to the hospitality of the local administration. This, however, forced many children from the youth academy to be left without a team.
"The new club will send an invitation to the parents of all children who have trained. The goal is for all athletes from the previous team to register within a few weeks. The team will build a serious staff. The club will develop in the shortest possible time so that the children do not remain without activities. There were over 100 children who trained. A non-profit association - the team is not municipal," announced Mayor Hristov.
He commented that it is unlikely that the new "Marek" will use a municipal subsidy like its namesake, as in this case it is only about children, not a professional team.
"Before, the support for the children's school was around BGN 5,000. They will submit an application and the Sports Commission to the Municipal Council will assess what the aid for them will be. The team will be financed by the fees that will be collected," Hristov said.
We remind you that Borislav Kyosev is from the Dupnitsa village of Balanovo, Kyustendil region, thus demonstrating his concern for local volleyball. In addition to the volleyball legend, setter Lyubomir Agontsev, Ivan Yasenov - former team statistician, and Alexander Varbanov, who was a rehabilitator for the men's national team, participated in the founding.
