After Rado Stoychev and Turkey: Aleksander Sliwka officially returned to Poland

Poland's national team captain Aleksander Sliwka has officially returned to the domestic league after PGE Projekt (Warsaw) announced his signing for the new season. This concludes the 30-year-old outside hitter's two-year stint abroad, where he successively played for Japan's Suntory Sunbirds and Turkey's Halkbank (Ankara), led by Bulgarian coach Radostin Stoychev.
In fact, Sliwka was already part of the Warsaw club at the end of last season. At that time, he joined on a medical transfer after the starting outside hitter Bartosz Bednorz suffered an injury. Now, however, his transfer is final, and he will be one of the key players in the squad for the 2026/27 season.

The transfer is not a surprise, as Polish media had been linking him with PGE Projekt for months. Interestingly, some time ago Sliwka himself emphatically denied such a scenario.
"Regarding my move to PGE Projekt (Warsaw), the rumors are very inaccurate. The truth is, I haven't received any offer from this club," the national team player said at the time on the "Polsat SiatCast" program.
However, at his official presentation, the captain of Poland already sent a message to the fans of his new club.
"Warsaw does not compromise. The capital deserves the best. It's time for a golden standard," Sliwka stated.
With his signing, PGE Projekt (Warsaw) continues its serious recruitment for the new season. Besides the Polish international, the club has already brought in Italian coach Roberto Piazza, as well as middle blocker Bartosz Lemanski. Meanwhile, French outside hitter Kevin Tillie also remains in Warsaw, ensuring strong competition for this position.
