The Polish women's national team will have a refreshed squad for the start of the second tournament of the Volleyball Nations League in Bangkok, where they face Bulgaria tomorrow.
Head coach Stefano Lavarini receives a significant boost with the inclusion of Magdalena Stysiak, who is one of the biggest stars of Polish volleyball and a key scorer for the team in recent years. Her return significantly increases the attacking power of the "Polish Squadron."
Paulina Damaske and Sonia Stefanik also join the squad. Damaske is an outside hitter who can bring additional stability in both attack and reception, while Stefanik expands Lavarini's options in the rotation.
Martyna Czyrniańska, who returns to Poland due to injury, as well as Anna Obiała and Oliwia Sieradzka, are out of the squad.
In the Polish camp, they approach the Bulgarian team with respect, even though Bulgaria is in the lower part of the provisional standings after the first week.
The analyst of the Polish national team, Kacper Duda, described Bulgaria as a team that practices physically powerful volleyball, combined with good technical qualities.
"We start with a match against Bulgaria. This is a team that plays quite physical volleyball, combined with technical elements. The squad has practically not changed from the first week. The two players we pay special attention to are outside hitter Milanova and opposite Stoyanova. Bulgaria builds its game in attack precisely around them."
The Poles have obviously analyzed the Bulgarian team in detail and have identified Iva Dudova/Milanova (according to Polish information) and Mikaela Stoyanova as the main attacking figures that need to be limited.
Libero Justyna Łysiak also emphasized that the Polish staff has paid special attention to Bulgaria's attacking schemes.
"We paid attention to how Bulgaria organizes its attacks and we are prepared for what they will show us. We know well what we need to do to stop Bulgaria. But we also focus on our own game, because we know we can play better."
From the statements in the Polish camp, it is clear that the opponent does not underestimate Bulgaria, but at the same time views the match as a good opportunity to successfully start the tournament in Bangkok and move up in the Nations League standings. The greatest hopes of the Polish women are precisely connected with the return of Magdalena Stysiak, who could prove to be Lavarini's key trump card against the Bulgarian block and defense.
We remind you that Marcello Abbondanza made two changes to Bulgaria's squad for the second Nations League tournament in Bangkok. Due to a knee problem, middle blocker Mariya Koleva dropped out of the group, and Viktoriya Ninova was called up in her place. Merelin Nikolova replaces Monika Krasteva at the opposite position.
