Lokomotiv Avia officially signed former national player Dobromir Dimitrov. This confirmed the information fromVolleyWeek.bgfrom June 6, when we were the first to report that the experienced setter was close to signing with the Plovdiv club but was waiting for an offer from abroad.
Ultimately, the 34-year-old volleyball player declined an opportunity to continue his career abroad and will wear the 'railmen's' jersey for the 2026/2027 season.
Dimitrov arrives from Spanish champions Guaguas, with whom he reached the Champions League quarterfinals. An Olympian from London 2012 and a long-time Bulgarian national player, he has a rich career in clubs such as Perugia, Ortona, Zalău, CSM București, Hatam Ardakan, as well as Pirin (Razlog), CSKA, Hebar, and Neftochimic 2010.
With the signing of Dobromir Dimitrov, Lokomotiv Avia gains a significant reinforcement in the setter position and another proven figure with rich international experience.
Meanwhile, another transfer of a former national player is expected to materialize. AsVolleyWeek.bgalready reported, the Plovdiv team is very close to signing outside hitter Rozalin Penchev, who could become the team's next big acquisition for the new season.
