The Management Board of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation approved the candidacy of Anton Vasiliev as head coach of the Bulgarian women's U17 national team.
Currently, Vasiliev is a coach at the Stoichev and Kaziyski Volleyball Academy, and this season he led the club's women's team to win the Demax+ Bulgarian Cup in the Women's Superleague.
The main task for the new coach will be the preparation and participation of the national team in the Balkan Championship in Kosovo, which will take place from July 21-25.
Anton Vasiliev is a well-known name in Bulgarian volleyball, also as a former player. Born on November 6, 1991, he played as a libero and had a career both in Bulgaria and abroad. He is 186 centimeters tall, and during his active years, he competed for CSKA, Teteven Volley, Dunav (Ruse), and the Finnish Team Lakkapää. His career began at CSKA, where he played from 2009-2013, after which he moved to the Finnish Team Lakkapää. Upon his return to Bulgaria, he once again defended the colors of 'the Reds', and later also Teteven Volley and Dunav (Ruse).
Vasiliev's appointment is another step in the rejuvenation and development of coaching staff in Bulgarian volleyball, as the federation clearly relies on specialists actively working with junior athletes.
