The two Bulgarian beach volleyball pairs with victories against Cyprus in the Nations Cup

The Bulgarian representatives in beach volleyball finished their participation in the Nations Cup tournament in Cyprus on a positive note. On the second day of the competition, our national team recorded two decisive victories against the host duos, demonstrating stabilization in their game after an unsuccessful start.
The first pair, consisting of Dimitar Kalchev and Dimitar Mehandzhiyski, played a dramatic match that lasted 46 minutes. The Bulgarians prevailed with a 2:1 score in sets (18:21, 21:13, 15:13) after managing to turn the tide following a lost first set and showed stronger mental fortitude in the decisive moments.
Before that, our other tandem – Tsanev and Georgiev – dealt with their opponents far more convincingly. In just 31 minutes, they closed the match with a 2:0 score in sets (21:11, 21:18), fully controlling the events on the sand and leaving no doubt about their superiority.
Despite the strong finish to the tournament, the Bulgarian pairs did not manage to qualify further. On the first day, they lost their matches against Poland and Israel, which proved crucial for the final standings. Only the team from Israel advanced to the final phase of the competition.
The performance of the Bulgarians outlined a certain inconsistency, but also potential – especially on the second day of competition, when their play was significantly more organized and effective in both attack and defense.
